1. What types of projects require a building permit?

Building Permits are required for new construction and most home improvement projects, including:

2. Why do I need a Building Permit?

Most peoples' homes are their single largest investment. If the construction project does not comply with the codes adopted by the Township, the value of a person's investment could possible be reduced. In addition, property insurers may not cover work done without proper permits and inspections. If a homeowner decides to sell their home, the potential buyer may examine Township property records to insure that proper permits and inspections were obtained and completed.

3. Can I apply for a permit on-line?

Permit applications can be found on the Building Department page and can be delivered in person, mailed in or faxed to 651-426-2258.

4. Are dumpsters allowed?

Dumpsters are allowed in the Township and must be placed on the driveway of a residential property. No dumpsters are allowed on Township streets. It is a good idea to have a cover for the dumpster to avoid lighter objects from blowing out.
